12-Month Goals & How We Measure Impact
Over the next 12 months, The Lawn Legacy Project is committed to building a strong foundation in Leland, Mississippi, while preparing to expand across the Mississippi Delta. Our goals are ambitious—but rooted in practical, measurable outcomes that reflect both our labor and the lives we touch.
Annual Fundraising Goal: $260,000
This operating budget supports everything from youth wages and transportation to equipment maintenance, insurance, community outreach, and a full-time program coordinator to lead the effort. These funds allow us to serve our community with safety, sustainability, and professionalism.
Program Infrastructure
We will launch our central headquarters in Leland, which will serve as our base for storing equipment, coordinating services, and training youth. We also plan to establish two mobile service crews that will begin providing services in nearby communities, starting with Indianola and Greenville.
Youth Employment
We will employ 7 local youth, offering meaningful seasonal jobs, mentorship, and workforce training. These jobs provide hands-on experience, teach responsibility, and build a sense of civic pride.
Individuals Served vs. Yards Cut
Our goal is to serve at least 100 seniors and individuals with disabilities in our first year. However, our impact is measured in two ways:
- Yards Cut: Each unique property where lawn services are provided. We anticipate cutting approximately 50–60 distinct lawns throughout the growing season.
- Individuals Served: The number of people living at each service location who directly benefit from our work. Because many homes include senior couples or multiple eligible individuals, our services will impact 100 or more individuals, even if fewer physical lawns are maintained.
This dual tracking model helps us quantify both the scale of our operations and the real, personal impact we have in the lives of those we serve.
Community Reach
In Year 1, we will focus our efforts in Leland and pilot additional services in Indianola and Greenville. This allows us to test our expansion model while building trust and demonstrating results in the communities we serve.
Together, these goals reflect a sustainable and scalable approach to community service—where every lawn we mow becomes a platform for youth development, senior dignity, and neighborhood pride.
